Why Do Men Fall?
Men do not fall
Because they run;
Neither do they,
Because people push them.
Men do not fall
Because they lack walls;
Rods, poles or shoulders
To lean on.
Men do not fall
Because platforms break;
Nor do they fall
Because of slippery grounds.
Men only fall
From weakened wills;
From sunken hearts
And from shallow dreams.
From the rusting of faith
From the deafening of hope;
And from the dulling
Of inner lights.
